Does anybody know when they come out? And also, does anyone have any idea why Kirsten was ignored in the change? I was wondering because I would really like to get Felicity's book set in hardcover (my original softcover bookset is falling apart from being read so many times!) before they change it to look like the new ones which I dont like at all.

I quite like the book covers, although I think I still prefer the tan books. All of my dolls (except Nellie) came with the tan books. I also noticed that the tan books have "pleasant company" written on the side, whereas Nellie's book has "American Girl" written on the side. Is this one of those post/pre matel situations?????
XOXO

I kind of miss the tan book covers. The new ones are pretty like Nellie's is really cute, but I liked the old ones.
I haven't seen any new covers for Felicity or Kirsten. Maybe they are just slow designing them.
Some of the picture selections for the new covers I thought were kind of weird, such as the one for Josefina Saves the Day. Why they chose the picture of her just sitting their with her sisters instead of one more relevant to the action of the story is beyond me.

The are two reasons why I don't like the new covers. One, I think the original had a very classy look to them. No other children's books look like that. And for a more personal reason, I'm very sentimental and the original covers is the ones I read when I was young and thats how I associate the books to look like. But thats not a really good reason and I know it, LOL. My other reason relates back to Dancingfewl's post about Molly's meet book. Whats the point in having certain outfits go with a story only to change the cover completely?? Especially outfits that are no long available such as Addy wearing the stilting dress on one of her books. Its ridiculus and deviates from the original purpose. I don't mind the second set of covers, in fact I like them, because they are essentially the same but with more color and detail. Now the AG books look no differant than any other generic childrens book and the characters are dressed in outfits that don't match their stories. To me there was something really charming about all the covers being posed the same way, but for that girl's era. It was almost symbolic of the purpose of American Girl; that all girls have to deal with the struggles of growing up no matter when they live. To me the new covers are just generic illustrations you could see printed on just any childs book. Grrrrrr.
